Chicago Fall Holiday: October 28 - 30, 2026
Our annual fall holiday in Chicago will be during the city’s optimum October weather, when we will include a pair of Lyric Opera productions contrasting Mozart’s classic Don Giovanni with the company’s thrilling premiere staging of Omar, the acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning score composed by Rhiannon Giddens and Michael Abels – “an innovative and compelling opera . . . a musical work that respectfully represents African as well as African American traditions” (Pulitzer committee).
At the city’s venerable Orchestra Hall, we are fortunate that our dates coincide with a concert highlight by the renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra, with Guest Conductor Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider leading a program of Mozart’s ‘Linz’ Symphony and Brahms’ German Requiem, with soloists and chorus.
Our accommodations for three nights will be at the Union League Club in the heart of Chicago’s ‘Loop’, within easy access of the Art Institute, Orchestra Hall and the Lyric Opera. Established in 1879, the Union League occupies an elegant downtown building where a major collection of 800 American artworks is displayed in the spacious public rooms. Dining facilities include the Wigwam Room (for breakfast and informal dinner), the Main Dining Room and the Carvery for lunch, and the Rendez-Vous Bar for lunch and light dinner. The Club also features an indoor swimming pool, exercise and massage rooms, and a large library surrounded by important paintings. Your temporary guest card will enable you to enjoy the wide range of services offered by this private club.
