Dallas & Houston: November 8 - 12, 2025
The Texan cultural capitals of Dallas and Houston take pride in their state-of-the-art music venues – the Winspear Opera House and Myerson Center in Dallas and the Wortham Center in Houston. Our long overdue return in November’s pleasant fall weather is sparked by the unusual repertory of three irresistible opera productions: Francis Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites (1957), George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess (1935), and Giacomo Puccini’s Il Trittico (1918) - Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi. Each of these operas has been recognized among a handful of essential works of the 20th century repertoire.
In addition, our dates fortunately coincide with a Dallas Symphony concert of Richard Strauss and Brahms. The conductor will be Marin Alsop.
All of our events are concentrated within a convenient five-night period, which does not often happen between these important cities
We will begin in Dallas for two nights at the traditional Fairmont Hotel, a name that is synonymous with world-class hospitality in San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans and Dallas. The Fairmont is perfectly located in the Dallas Arts District within easy walking distance of the city’s leading cultural institutions and both of our performances. Dining facilities include the Pyramid Restaurant & Bar for seafood and New American cuisine, and the Lobby Lounge & Bar for convenient Southwest meals.
Our accommodations in Houston are for three nights at the small ‘boutique’ Lancaster Hotel. Ideally located only a short walk from our opera performances at the Wortham Center, the Lancaster is intimate and fully equipped with 24-hour room service and an inviting dining room and bar – the Bistro Lancaster. Our arrangements with the Lancaster include a generous buffet breakfast, which is unusual for American hotels.
