We can’t resist adding a late April Tour when the MET will offer a Trio of major operas and Carnegie Hall presents a Concert of favorite classics. PLEASE READ THE DETAILS IN THE PRECEDING MARCH TOUR, as we will repeat the same arrangements for our April dates. Only the four performances will be different, as detailed below:

April 27: Following our early dinner, La Boheme at the MET Opera. The Franco Zeffirelli production will feature Angel Blue as a rich-voiced Mimi (one of her signature roles) opposite the British lyric tenor Adam Smith as Rodolfo, and Amina Edris paired with Davide Luciano as Musetta and Marcello. The conductor is Roberto Kalb.

April 28: Eugene Onegin at the MET Opera. Under conductor Timur Zangiev, the Vienna Philharmonic’s Polonaise will exude the elegance of the Imperial Romanov era. Heading the cast is the sensational Lithuainian soprano Asmik Grigorian as Tatiana, confirming her stellar reputation as Vienna and Salzburg’s favorite singing-actress. Ivor Golovatenko as Onegin, Stanislas de Barbeyrac as Lensky, Maria Barakova as Olga, and Alexander Tsymbalyuk as Prince Gremin complete the authentic Slavic ensemble. Deborah Warner is in charge of the direction, and Tom Pye is the set designer.

April 29: Premiere Production of the late Finnish composer, Kaija Saariaho’s opera, Innocence at the MET Opera. The production by director Simon Stone and set designer Chloe Lamford promises to cause a sensation. Conductor Susanna Mälkki will lead a cast featuring Joyce DiDonato as the Waitress, Rod Gilfry and Kathleen Kim as the Mother and Father-in-Law, Stephen Milling as the Priest, Jacquelyn Stucker and Miles Mykkanen as the Bride and Groom.

April 30: A Carnegie Hall concert by New York’s venerable Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Masaaki Suzuki will be the Guest Conductor for Mozart’s Overture to ‘Don Giovanni’, Beethoven’s towering Violin Concerto, and Mendelssohn’s exuberant Symphony No. 4 (‘Italian’). The soloist will be Midori.

Repeating our choice of accommodations in recent years, we will again be staying FOUR NIGHTS at a private club ideally located between our performances at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Please contact us for more information concerning the tour as well as the accommodations.
