There is always one week of the season at the venerable Staatsoper which seems unmissable because of the uniquely expansive repertoire. For the past several years, our spring weeks have been consistently sold out with a waiting list of disappointed requests. For the new 2026 - 2027 new season, the irresistible week falls in January when our schedule will include no less than five major operas (unprecedented in recent years) as well as a Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Concert. Only at the Staatsoper are we able to find the variety and quality of this program during the concise period of seven nights: Verdi’s Don Carlos (the original 5-Act French version), Beethoven’s Fidelio, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Massenet’s Werther, and Bedrich Smetana’s The Bartered Bride. The Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Concert will be in the Staatsoper’s intimate Mahler Saal.

Vienna’s wealth of museums, cafés and restaurants are refreshingly uncrowded in the winter. For our Staatsoper performances each evening, the theatre is only a short walk across the street from our hotel.

For all operas at the Staatsoper, the peerless Vienna Philharmonic will be in the pit. Our tickets are already confirmed in the Prime Orchestra. THE VIENNA STATE OPERA’S ENGLISH TITLES ARE SIMILAR TO THE MET’S, IN FRONT OF EACH SEAT RATHER THAN OVER THE STAGE.

Accommodations for seven nights, with a lavish buffet breakfast included at the deluxe Sacher Hotel, among a handful of Europe’s finest properties by virtue of the full personal service and the old-world charm of the bedrooms and public spaces. Both the main restaurant and the Café boast superb cuisine, and the concierge has earned an enviable reputation for arranging any independent activities. Your week in Vienna will be greatly enhanced by the comfort of staying in this famous hotel.
